So the Telegraph has launched a Men's section on it's website with much fan-fare, is it any good though?
The website has a nice layout with a range of topics from cars to fitness to relationships and it's super-fast.
I've never understood why so few newspapers have a lack of men's lifestyle - perhaps the declining sales of men's magazines motivates their editorial positions. So for the Telegraph to launch a part of the site all for men is a welcome step forward.
The first article that caught my eye was 'How old is too old to shop at Topman?'. As a big fan of Topman I was interested to read the author's thoughts but the content is as I expected - it is targeted at older, professional, wealthy men.
It seems like if a male Telegraph reader were to buy a men's magazine then they would buy GQ or Esquire. They ask 'How good can a £200 electric toothbrush be?' and argue that white is the new black for cars.
Audi even provide the main sponsorship.
Despite the content not appealing to 22-year-old me, I think it's a wise move by the Telegraph. Men's magazine sales are declining and this content on a news site and in print offers an opportunity and it will appeal to older male readers.
If this is a success then hopefully other newspapers will follow suit and have dedicated Men's sections.
Every newspaper has a female section, so it's time us men got them too.
